My name is Steven, and here is a little bit about myself. When I decided to teach music as a profession I was in my friend's church and just started showing a group of the children the drumkit they had in the basement. Getting the interest of those children, and having the same excited look to learn, and play the drums as I did was amazing, and since then I have taught my parents to play, family members, and a couple of private student. At that moment I had decided on a mission. That mission was to teach people the fun and art of music in such a way that no matter what their career was, or would be, music would become something people could always come back to. Upon realizing this, I applied and got into the Bachelor of Arts (Music) program at the University of Calgary. I am currently now in my Third Year of this program. My musical education background consists of being taught Drums and Percussion from six years old, and then I picked up the Alto Saxophone in Junior High. From then on I was self taught until I got into university, once there I got accepted into the Symphonic Band, and the World Music Ensemble. As for how I like to teach, I like to have my students decide on a song they are interested in playing and use that to have a basis on teaching them the lessons. With this method I find it keeps them interested, but lets the lessons feel fun and productive. To add onto this I have taken multiple composition courses that let my student and I even make the music ourselves.","image":"24ec0499-ef35-4aae-adf6-081d58546e86.jpg","name":"Steven C","styles":"Rock, Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock, Orchestral, Contemporary, Movie/Video Game Scores","instruments":"Saxophone/Saxophone/Drums","levels":"Beginner, Intermediate","languages":"English","DiffInMiles":9.439282356,"id":"50757","city":"Calgary","state":"Alberta","description":"Hello!
