I've been involved in music since I was a kid, starting piano lessons when I was 6 years old and joining wind band when I got into middle school. I've got experience with all sorts of instruments, as I started my wind instrument journey on saxophone, briefly played the clarinet in the beginning of high school, and finally found my way to French Horn in grade 10. I studied up to RCM Level 8 in Piano and Level 9 in Theory, and switched to French Horn lessons for the latter half of high school. I completed my Undergraduate at Wilfrid Laurier University in Classical Performance on the French Horn, and am currently working on my Master's in Performance at the University of Toronto. I'm fairly new in my musical teaching career, but I have given private and group swimming lessons for many years. I've visited high schools and ran music workshops as part of my Undergraduate Degree, and given a handful of private French Horn lessons to family and friends. I've started to branch out to other instruments of the brass family, playing tenor horn (very similar to the baritone/euphonium) in a community brass band and picking up trumpet in my spare time. Most of my expertise lies in brass instruments as well as piano, and I'm happy to share my love of music with anyone who wants to learn! As a teacher, I believe the most important thing is to meet students where they're at, both musically and emotionally. My job is to facilitate learning and growth for all skill levels, and to develop musical technique so that you can better connect with what you're playing. I believe you should always be playing music that you *want* to play, so I take a very collaborative approach to choosing and working on repertoire.
