Jeff received his Bachelor of Music as a scholarship composition student at the Eastman School of Music and his Master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music. He studied with Pulitzer Prize-winning composers Christopher Rouse and Joseph Schwantner. Jeff is a well-known pianist/composer/choir conductor/session musician/church organist/musical theatre director/film and TV composer in Toronto, Canada. He has more than 20 piano concerti in his repertoire, from Tchaikovsky to Rachmaninov's 2nd and 3rd piano concerti. His rock/pop songs have been played on radio stations around the world, and he has had more than 120 articles written on him in magazines/websites and more, and has recently received the honour in Oct 2025 of gracing the cover of TJPL magazine in the UK for his recent rock songs. He has played across the USA and Canada in tribute bands and is very active in the Toronto choral community as a conductor/pianist/vocal coach. He has composed the scores for 18 international films and 2 Canadian TV series. While a student at Manhattan School of Music, Jeff interned at EMI Records and Blue Note Records in New York City. He worked at Sony recording studios in NYC on the MTV Unplugged stage and as an assistant recording engineer. Jeff won the Socan award for his 1st orchestral work “AWAKEN” during this time as well.

I'm fairly new in my musical teaching career, but I have given private and group swimming lessons for many years. I've visited high schools and ran music workshops as part of my Undergraduate Degree, and given a handful of private French Horn lessons to family and friends. I've started to branch out to other instruments of the brass family, playing tenor horn (very similar to the baritone/euphonium) in a community brass band and picking up trumpet in my spare time. Most of my expertise lies in brass instruments as well as piano, and I'm happy to share my love of music with anyone who wants to learn! As a teacher, I believe the most important thing is to meet students where they're at, both musically and emotionally. My job is to facilitate learning and growth for all skill levels, and to develop musical technique so that you can better connect with what you're playing. I believe you should always be playing music that you *want* to play, so I take a very collaborative approach to choosing and working on repertoire.
