Hi, I’m Mike! I hold an Associate of Arts Degree in Music from Vancouver Community College and have been teaching music since 2010. I am passionate about helping students achieve their musical goals while enjoying the learning process along the way. In my teaching, I focus on creating individualised lesson plans tailored to each student’s goals, interests, and learning style, so they can grow in ways that feel both engaging and meaningful. Whether a student is just beginning their musical journey or looking to refine their skills, I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where they can build confidence and develop a lifelong love of music. I have been performing since 2001 in a variety of ensembles and genres, including Hungarian folk music, jazz, and Afrobeat. I have also had the opportunity to perform and record professionally, bringing a diverse range of musical experiences into my lessons. When I’m not teaching or performing, I enjoy biking and hiking in Gatineau Park, gardening, and woodworking.
