I began playing piano early on, and in Grade 7 I discovered the saxophone—an experience that sparked a lifelong passion for music. I have now been playing the saxophone for over 12 years and earned my Bachelor of Music from the University of Ottawa in Spring 2025. I am currently working toward a future in Music Therapy, with the goal of helping others through the power of music. I have nearly three years of teaching experience, working with students of different ages and abilities. I began teaching with OrKidstra, where I led two saxophone classes and provided private lessons. I have also taught general music workshops and classes at the Lotus Centre for Special Music Education, where I worked closely with children with diverse learning needs. When teaching, I focus on being clear, patient, and supportive, always explaining the purpose behind each lesson so students understand what they are learning and why. I believe learning music should be both structured and enjoyable, so I incorporate material that students connect with while still building strong fundamentals. I also create custom practice materials for my students to use at home, which we review together each lesson to track progress and build confidence. Alongside teaching, I have performed in a variety of ensembles, including jazz groups and choirs, with performances at venues such as Ottawa’s National Arts Centre. While performance has been an important part of my musical journey, my greatest focus is helping students grow, gain confidence, and develop a lasting love for music. Outside of teaching, I enjoy listening to a wide range of music and playing instruments such as the saxophone, piano, and guitar. I strive to create a positive, encouraging, and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to learn.","image":"22a59d90-b74c-4a4e-9bc8-d884c34e24b8.png","name":"Jordan G","styles":"All Styles","instruments":"Saxophone/Saxophone/Saxophone","levels":"Advanced, Beginner, Intermediate","languages":"French, English","DiffInMiles":14.519399866,"id":"51150","city":"Ottawa","state":"Ontario","description":"Hi, my name is Jordan, and music has been a huge part of my life from a very young age.
