I customize my curriculum to each student’s needs and interests, using songs they’re genuinely excited about to help them build strong musical foundations and confidence along the way. I’m the lead vocalist in both a grunge band and a death metal band, and I’ve had the opportunity to perform at venues such as Hugh’s Room, Tranzac, and The Painted Lady. When I’m not teaching or performing, I enjoy playing and watching sports, reading, stargazing, and collecting cool rocks. \nMy musical journey started in middle school when I was cast as a young farmhand in a community theatre production of Oklahoma! The friends I made and the musicians I worked with were so inspiring that I enrolled in theatre school, performed in more than 25 shows, and eventually earned a Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance from Western University.

\nArmed with a little education, I spent a year as Musical Director and Voice Teacher for the LYTE (London Youth Theater Experience) Program, which offers subsidized musical theatre training to families in London, Ontario. That season we presented Beauty and the Beast with a cast of thirty teens and twenty juniors, and when I saw my students conquering their fears and falling in love with performing, it was like it was happening to me all over again. I continued to explore teaching by moving to Thailand, where I spent a year teaching English in a temple school before taking a job teaching English and Music at a middle school in South Korea. I will always be grateful to my students and colleagues abroad for all that they taught me, but after two years away from home, I returned to earn my Masters Degree in music at the University of Toronto and to make the city my home.

Hi, I'm Leo! My passion for music began at the age of 12 when I first discovered rock music, and it has remained a driving force in my life ever since. I hold a Bachelor of Music from York University and have been teaching for over 20 years. Throughout my career, I have taught both private lessons and full classroom music programs in private schools. I am passionate about helping students succeed and have developed a proven teaching approach that motivates students to learn, practice consistently, and achieve meaningful results. My lessons are designed to be engaging, rewarding, and tailored to each student's unique goals and interests. I believe every student learns differently, which is why I adapt my teaching style to suit each individual's experience level, learning preferences, and musical aspirations. My goal is to create a positive and supportive environment where students feel encouraged to challenge themselves, celebrate their progress, and build lasting confidence in their musical abilities. In addition to teaching, I have spent more than 15 years performing in bands and ensembles of various styles and sizes. I have also created and directed numerous student bands, developing a unique approach to arranging music and leading group performances. This experience has helped many young musicians gain valuable ensemble skills and perform successfully with confidence and enthusiasm.
