Take the stage — audition for a Rockstar band
Join the Group Jam, Junior Band, Rock Band, or the new Rockstar After Hours band. A short, friendly audition — you play, you meet the team, you're in.
Audition questions, answered
Is the audition really free?
Yes, completely free, no obligation. It's a chance for us to hear where the musician is at, match them with the right band, and for you to meet the team.
What happens at the audition?
It's a short, friendly 10-minute session with the band lead. You play one or two songs you like at whatever level you're at, chat about your goals, and that's it. No panel, no pressure, no cuts for effort.
What should we bring?
Your instrument (drummers just bring sticks — kit is provided) One or two songs you like to play, at any level A water bottle and a great attitude Please arrive about 10 minutes before your time slot.
What ages are the bands for?
Group Jam is ages 6-7, Junior Band is 8-12, Rock Band is 13-17, and Rockstar After Hours is our 18+ band for adults. Your age picks your band automatically when you book.
What happens after the audition?
We place each musician in the right band and the fall session starts the week of September 24, 2026 with weekly rehearsals building to the end-of-season rock show on a real stage.
We can't make either date. Can we still join a band?
Usually, yes. Book the closest option and reply to your confirmation email, or contact [email protected] and we'll figure out a time with the band lead.
There's no audition venue near us. Can we still join?
Often, yes. The fall venues are in Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Richmond Hill, and Vancouver, but Rockstar Music teaches in nearly 200 cities across Canada. Email [email protected] about an online audition or a mid-season join and we'll see what's possible in your area.
