Hi, I’m Frieda. I’m a drummer and percussion instructor with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from McGill University. I have been teaching music since 2020, working with students of all ages and levels in both one-on-one and group settings. I specialize in drum set, jazz, and Brazilian percussion, and I enjoy helping students build strong technical skills while also developing creativity and confidence. My teaching approach is student-centered and adaptable. I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable exploring rhythm, improvisation, and musical expression. I tailor each lesson to the student’s goals and learning style, whether they are just starting out or looking to refine advanced skills. As a performer, I regularly play in jazz and Brazilian music settings, and I have experience performing in a variety of ensembles and live music contexts. This continues to shape how I teach, especially in areas like listening, groove, and playing with others. Outside of music, I enjoy several hobbies such as crochet, painting, multi-day hiking adventures, baking and Capoeira.
