Hi, I’m Alana! I’m a passionate music educator with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Studies, a certificate in Music Theory instruction, and piano training through Level 9 of the Royal Conservatory of Music. I’ve been teaching music since 2016, working with students of all ages and experience levels. Whether a student is just discovering their love of music, preparing for an exam, building confidence, or simply looking for a creative outlet, I believe lessons should be enjoyable, encouraging, and tailored to the individual. My teaching philosophy is to meet students where they are and help them discover where their music can take them. Every student has their own unique sound, creativity, and potential. I take time to learn what inspires each student, then shape lessons around their interests, strengths, and goals. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and developing their skills at their own pace. I also bring a diverse range of performance experience to my teaching. I spent 10 years touring internationally with a choir and have performed with jazz and rock ensembles as well as as a solo artist. These experiences have given me a well-rounded perspective on both the technical and creative sides of being a musician. Outside of music, I enjoy dance, painting, and baking.
