I've spent 20 years figuring out what actually helps drummers get better - and it's simpler than most people think. You need a clear path, consistent practice, and someone who genuinely loves the music. That's what I bring to every lesson."? I grew up in Trinidad & Tobago, where I fell in love with music early and decided to pursue it seriously. I went on to earn my Associate Degree in Performing Arts: Music from the College of Science, Technology & Applied Arts of Trinidad & Tobago before moving to Toronto to deepen my training. At Humber College, I had the opportunity to study directly with Larnell Lewis and Mark Kelso - two of the most respected drummers in Canada - and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Music with distinction. Studying under mentors at that level changed how I think about teaching: the best teachers don't just show you what to play, they show you how to listen. ? As a performer, I've had the chance to share the stage with artists across the Caribbean, Europe and Canada, and I also served as Musical Director for award-winning jazz and gospel artists back in Trinidad. Today I perform with some of Toronto's top musicians and entertainment agencies at events across Ontario.? On the teaching side, I've been working with beginner, intermediate, and professional drummers for over 20 years. I've taught at institutions including Merriam School of Music, Canada Christian College and most recently, a senior instructor at Humber College. I’ve also reached students worldwide through my YouTube series D' Drum Corner. My approach comes down to breaking concepts into clear, practical steps so students can feel themselves improving - not just at lessons, but every time they sit down to practice on their own.? When I'm not teaching or playing, you'll probably find me watching sports, playing chess, or catching a good movie. I believe learning drums should be both challenging and genuinely fun - and the best lessons tend to happen when a student stops overthinking and just starts playing.
