Fabian is a multi-instrumentalist and woodwind specialist who studied at the University of Toronto with a Bachelor's of Music Education. He has more than 2 years of experience teaching music in both the public and private education systems of Toronto and the GTA, leading masterclasses at schools such as Pierre Truedue High School and Harvegal College, to name a few. He has worked alongside and performed with notable musicians such as renowned saxophonist Melissa Aldana and worked with the Alberta Jazz Honour band under the direction of former U of T professor Gordon Foote. In addition, he has studied with world-class educators like Greg Colley and Shirantha Baddage(one of the heads of the U of T jazz program). Playing everything from classical to Jazz and Latin, Fabian has experience in many forms of music and is versatile in his teaching methods. He is a strong proponent of consistency and patience when it comes to teaching music. Believing that through consistent and practical methods of musical engagement, as well as patience and understanding, anyone can achieve a high level of musicality in any form. Fabian himself immigrated from Cuba, proficiently speaking both English and Spanish; he comes from a lower-middle-class immigrant family and understands the value of hard work and persistence. learning music from a young age in public schools to then reaching an advanced level in musical performance, his journey has given him a sense of understanding for adapting to difficult circumstances through the joy of performing and learning music. This culmination of diverse experiences makes him a very sensible, approachable and understanding teacher, and all around patient and joyfully individual who students find fun to work with.
