Jade is a Toronto-based percussionist and educator pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Toronto. He holds a Master of Music from Southern Oregon University and a Bachelor of Arts from Oregon State University. With over a decade of teaching experience across private studios, post-secondary institutions, and community programs, Jade has worked with students at every level. Jade's teaching is grounded in the belief that technical development. Artistic expression and musical engagement are inseparable. He draws directly on his life as an active performer to make lessons relevant, rigorous, and engaging — meeting students where they are and building toward their own musical voice. Jade performs regularly, and his concert highlights include a concerto soloist appearance with the OSU Wind Ensemble, participation in world and North American premieres, and performances across the Oregon Fringe Festival, soundSCAPE, and the Next Festival for Emerging Artists. He has also performed in the pit orchestras of Les Misérables, Cabaret, and A Chorus Line, playing a variety of styles on the drum set and percussion.
