With over six years of performance and teaching experience, Li Quan is dedicated to nurturing musicianship that is both technically sound and emotionally fulfilling for his students. He holds Licentiate Diploma in Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music and studied at the University of Toronto. His musical background includes formal training under Yaroslav Pugach and Grace Lin. Li Quan has helped students achieved First Class Honours with Distinct on RCM exams, earn awards at music festivals, and prepare for auditions. His teaching approach blends classical foundations with student's personal interests, incorporating pop, jazz, film music, and improvisation to keep lessons engaging and meaningful. His experience studying and applying music therapy further strengthened his ability to support diverse learnings in a patient, encouraging environment. As a performer, Li Quan has appeared in solo recitals at the Flato Markham Theatre and has won multiple awards at festivals including MMF, North York, and CCC. Outside the classical stage, he enjoys playing jazz, pop, and musical theatre numbers at local taverns and community events, often improvising and interacting with live audiences. He also arranges and shares piano covers of anime, movie, and video-game soundtracks online. Students often connect with Li Quan’s down-to-earth personality and shared interests: he loves discussing and exploring music from various media, and believes that lessons should feel inspiring — not stressful.
