Why we do it

At Rockstar Music, the music is secondary. It sounds strange for a music school, but we believe music is so much more than just notes on a page. We use music as a tool to build confidence, self-esteem, discipline and leadership skills. Getting up and performing on stage teaches you something few other lessons can. You learn to tune out the noise, face your fears, and find the resilience and confidence to take on whatever life throws at you, and succeed.

That is what it means to be a ROCKTAR.

2
Practice

Weekly lessons that come to you, in your home or online. You learn music like a language, so you play by ear, jam, and write your own.

The Rockstar advantage

Music is a language.
It's meant to be spoken with others.

Your brain processes music just like language. Most lessons teach memorization and mimicry, with no real fluency. We teach it the way you learned to talk, so you can actually speak it: play in a band, write your own songs, learn a song by ear, and have a lot of fun.

Questions
Music lessons in Vancouver, BC — common questions

Do you offer trial lessons in Vancouver?

Yes. Every new Vancouver student gets a free 30-minute trial lesson with their chosen Rockstar teacher. No credit card required, no commitment. Our BC team follows up within 24 hours of your booking. Vancouver contact: (778) 374-9336.

Which Vancouver-area regions do you serve?

We cover Vancouver and the Lower Mainland: Vancouver proper (Kitsilano, Kerrisdale, Dunbar, Shaughnessy, West Point Grey, Riley Park, Mount Pleasant, Yaletown, downtown), plus North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, Delta, and New Westminster. Each neighborhood has its own page with teachers ordered by proximity.

How are Vancouver teachers vetted?

Every Rockstar Vancouver teacher is hand-picked and vulnerable-sector checked, the Canadian police-record screening required for working with children. Many are graduates of the UBC School of Music, VIVA Vancouver, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra programs, or Capilano University, and several maintain active careers in BC's recording, film-scoring, and jazz scenes.

Do teachers really come to my home in Vancouver?

Yes. Our in-home model is the original Rockstar way. Vancouver teachers travel across the Lower Mainland; the teacher comes to your home in Kitsilano, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, or wherever you live. We pair you with the closest qualified instructor so the schedule actually works through traffic and bridges.

Can my Vancouver child learn rock, jazz, or pop, not just classical?

Yes. Vancouver's roster includes classical conservatory graduates and Suzuki teachers alongside jazz musicians from the Cellar Restaurant scene, rock and indie players, songwriters, and producers active in Vancouver's recording industry. Each Vancouver Rockstar teacher brings their own musical story.

Do you teach RCM exam preparation in Vancouver?

Yes. Many Vancouver piano, violin, voice, and theory instructors prepare students for Royal Conservatory of Music exams from preliminary through ARCT. Suzuki violin and piano teachers also work with younger students who want a structured pedagogy track.

Can I take Vancouver lessons online instead?

Yes. Online lessons over video call use the same instructors and curriculum as our in-home format. Convenient for North Shore families during winter months or anyone who wants to avoid Lower Mainland traffic. Select Online when booking.
