Schedule a class with Matthew W

Hi, I'm Matthew! I played on a drum set for the first time in 2009, and that's when I knew I wanted to be a drummer! I had my first lesson that year and have been learning percussion ever since. I perform in metal/rock shows, and I'm eager to share what I know. Anybody can drum, so it's my goal and pleasure to help others find their passion for percussion! I trained for 5 years with a private instructor studying Brazilian and jazz and continued my music education in the regional arts instrumental program at St Elizabeth Catholic Highschool in Thornhill. I studied theory, classical percussion, and performance. I'd often participate in competitions and perform with other art schools in the USA and Canada. Some other bands I played for include jazz, R&B, rock, and theatre pit band for the drama arts department. In addition to reading and writing percussion music, I'd like to show students how to have fun on the drums, be comfortable with developing their sound, and express their sound with confidence on a stage.
